Before you go for update, backup all your data, although these phones may contain UPD feature (User Data Preservation) [N86 surely have this feature, but it is better to backup first].

There is no official changelog available for both firmwares. However it is revealed by an updater that new firmware for Nokia N86 has got following new features:

- Downloads! replaced by OVI Store
- OVI Store service launcher preloaded in the device and the actual client can be downloaded in the OVI
- Nokia Maps orientation functionality improves usage in landscape

SW improvements and corrections:
- Better imaging experience especially in video mode
- Nokia Maps 3.0.1 replacing Maps 3.0
- Improvements in Browser, Share Online, Camera, SettingsWizard
- Image quality: ‘half’ light pictures improved
- Text is not correctly line on Email corrected
- Launch of installed widgets improved

And we are still waiting for N85 changelog.

Note: The main purpose of all new firmwares is to prevent hacking. So if you want to keep your mobile hacked, hold on until it is confirmed that new firmware is hackable.

    I bought a Nokia N86 8MP phone in India, a week ago.

Now that Nokia Europe has released a firmware update, I wanted to download and update my phone. But on checking with Nokia India on this subject, I was told NOT to update !! Surprising…

yes, that is why the change of product is needed… you will have to change the product code of your mobile with Europe one and then you will be able to update it. Download the navifirm to get the product codes.
